Jogger Struck in Crosswalk

A 38-year-old woman was struck while jogging across Ox Road at Zion Drive in the crosswalk on Thursday, April 9. The striking vehicle, described as a small, gray sedan, was making a right turn on red from Zion onto Ox just prior to 6:30 p.m. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid nor exchange information.

The victim, who had the right of way to cross the road, was transported to the hospital where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Over the past three years, more than 400 pedestrians have been struck and injured in crashes on Fairfax County roadways. Police note that both pedestrians and motorists are equally responsible for observing laws and safety practices related to pedestrian right of way.
