UPDATE – Arrest Made in Herndon-Area Homicide

Homicide detectives in the Major Crimes Division have arrested Moises  Dominguez, 18, of 1051 Ironwood Road in Sterling, charging him with murder. Dominguez was arrested on Wednesday, April 15. Detectives are looking into the possibility that the homicide was gang-related.

First Update:

The Office of the Medical Examiner has preliminarily concluded that this death is a homicide. The deceased has been identified as William Adolfo Rivas Leiva, 22, of the Herndon area. The investigation remains ongoing. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

First Release:

Police are investigating a suspicious death in the Herndon area. On Monday, March 16, around 12:27 p.m. officers were called to a wooded area at Folly Lick Stream, located in the 1500 block of Hiddenbrook Drive, for the report of a body found in the woods. Officers located a deceased male.

This investigation is in its early stages. Detectives believe the deceased to be an adult male with trauma to the upper body. The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death. Positive identification has not yet been made.
