UPDATE: Man Charged in Reston Shooting
Detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting incident in Reston that occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 23. Police identified the individuals in yesterday’s shooting at a home in Reston as Stephen Thompson (29) and his wife (33). Preliminarily, detectives believe that there was an argument prior to the shooting. The husband is believed to have shot his wife and then himself.
Presently, the victim remains in life-threatening condition in the hospital.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Stephen Thompson, charging him with malicious wounding and served it at the hospital. He remains in the hospital in non life-threatening condition.
Two Shot in Domestic Incident in Reston (April 23)
Police were called to a report of a shot person at a home in the 2300 block of Branleigh Park Court at around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, April 23.
Police found a man and a woman, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, in the home. Both were transported to local hospital where they are both in life-threatening condition.
Based on the investigation, detectives believe that the incident is domestic in nature, the shooting was contained within the home, and that there is no public safety threat to the community.
The man and woman are in their 30’s and lived in the home together.
It is under investigation as to which of the individuals perpetrated the incident. Detectives remain on scene; charges are pending further investigation.
