UPDATE – Reported Attempted Abduction is a False Report

This morning detectives in the Major Crimes Division interviewed the 12-year-old boy who alleged he was the victim of an attempted abduction on Friday afternoon in the Springfield area. Detectives determined this was a false report and the attempted abduction did not occur.

Police are investigating a reported attempted abduction in the Springfield area. On Friday, April 24, around 3:15 p.m., a man approached a juvenile male in front of the main entrance of the Ravensworth Elementary School, located in the 5400 block of Nutting Drive.
 
The suspect grabbed the victim from behind and attempted to lure him away from the front of the school. The victim resisted and was able to free himself from the suspect. The victim did not require medical attention.
 
The suspect left the area and was described as a white male, 20 to 30 years of age, about 6 feet tall, between 225 to 250 pounds, blonde hair, and wearing a black long sleeve shirt and blue jeans.
