Captain Bob Blakley addresses Chief’s Council on Diversity Recruitment

Chief Edwin Roessler’s Council on Diversity Recruitment met Tuesday, June 16 and discussed several community engagement related initiatives, including an update on police officer appointments made to our Criminal Justice Academy’s 65th session , an overview of how officer-involved shooting investigations are handled, as well as updated  information on agency research now underway on the Body-Worn Cameras.

According to Captain Bob Blakley, project coordinator, the agency has been researching body-worn camera technology since 2013. Dashboard, in-car-video cameras are now included in the vast majority of cruisers; the new body cameras will be an extension of this technology.

Additionally, Chief Roessler and Diversity Council Chairman M. Siddique Sheikh, welcomed several visiting members from Fairfax County’s “Building Communities of Trust” committee. Together, they shared content from the presentations, further extending dialogue and reach with residents across Fairfax County.
