Update on Swimming Pool Emergency from Sunday, June 14

The 2-year-old little boy recovered from a swimming pool in Lorton on Sunday June 14 was pronounced dead at Inova Fairfax Hospital on June 18.

The apparent cause of death was drowning.

Detectives do not anticipate placing criminal charges in the case.

(6/15/15) Medical Emergency at Pirate’s Cove Swimming Pool

Police are investigating a medical emergency that occurred in the pool at Pirates Cove Waterpark, at Pohick Bay in Lorton. The incident took place at around 5 p.m. Sunday, June 14.

The pool was being cleared due to lightening in the area when a 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool.

Officers assigned to the Marine Patrol Unit were summoned to the pool and immediately began chest compressions. Fire & Rescue personnel quickly arrived and continued CPR.

The child is in life-threatening condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Police are investigating the incident.
