Current Status of McKenna In-Custody Death Investigation
Detectives with the Major Crimes Division received the completed testing and analysis of the electronic control weapon involved in the in-custody death of Natasha McKenna. On Monday, July 13, detectives submitted their investigative files and all evidence analysis to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Fairfax County for review and determination of criminal liability.
McKenna was in the custody of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, February 3, when she experienced a medical emergency as she was being prepared for transport from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center by deputies with the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SERT). She later died on Sunday, February 8.
