Officers from the Traffic Division of the Operations Support Bureau, conducted grant funded DWI enforcement patrols on Saturday, 12/26/15. One arrest was made for DWI, 17 traffic summonses were issued and two additional criminal charges were placed.

SUSPICIOUS EVENT: 7800 block of Belford Dr. 12/25/15, 2:30 a.m. A 26-year-old woman was awakened by a noise at her ground-floor bedroom window. She saw a man leaning in the window, apparently trying to get inside. She screamed and the man fled. He was described as Hispanic, in his 30s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and around 180 pounds. He had short, black hair and a goatee. He was wearing a T-shirt.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT: 8700 block of Richmond Hwy. 12/25/15, 4:36 p.m. Officers responded for the report of multiple fights and possible shots fired in the parking lot of “Club One.” Twenty officers were able to disperse the crowd of approximately 300 people. There was no evidence of any shots being fired and there were no injuries.

LARCENY/POSSESSION OF BURGLARIOUS TOOLS: 1961 Chain Bridge Rd. 12/23/15, 4:10 p.m. (CATT) The Christmas Anti-Theft Team was called to the Abercrombie and Fitch Store for a subject that had been taken into custody by a loss prevention officer. During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that Byron Drake, 56, of Washington, D.C had been in the store, put on a coat and allegedly destroyed the anti-theft detection device and then left the store without paying. During the search incident to the arrest, tools were found on Drake’s person that might have been used to facilitate the theft. Drake was charged with petit larceny and possession of burglarious tools.

BLOG POST: UPDATE: Man Charged in Falls Church Homicide
ROBBERY: 6100 block of Arlington Boulevard. 12/26/15, 9:46 p.m. An employee of the Arlington Bodega, a 59-year-old man, was closing the store when he noticed another man in the store. He told the man that the store was closed. The suspect produced a gun and demanded money. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled. He was described as black, with a dark complexion, between 25 and 30 years old and about 5 feet 3 inches tall with a thin build. He had a short beard and wore a black hat and dark-colored jacket.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 4100 block of Wadsworth Ct. 12/25/15, 11:55 a.m. A 22-year-old Annandale man got into an argument with two other men and was apparently stabbed. The suspects fled on foot and have tentatively been identified. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
BURGLARY: 2900 block of Peyton Randolph Dr. 12/26/15, 10:34 p.m. A resident reported that someone entered the residence and took property.

GRAND LARCENY WITH APPREHENSION: Springfield Town Center. 12/23/15, 8 p.m. (RATT) The Retail Anti-Theft Team was called to the J.C. Penney store for a larceny in progress. Responding officers quickly located and apprehended the suspects. Jito Binoya, 30, of Alexandria and Jovito Benoya, 28, of Fairfax, were both charged with grand larceny, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana. There were no injuries and the stolen property was recovered.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/MALICIOUS WOUNDING: Parkman Ct. 12/25/15, 12:02 a.m. A 51-year-old man was intoxicated and became irate during an argument with his wife. He grabbed a machete and allegedly cut her and their 14-year-old son and then fled. He was apprehended approximately two and a half hours later. The victims, along with the couple’s 2-year-old child also fled from the home. The mother and 14-year-old were treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The man was charged with two counts of malicious wounding and an emergency protective order was issued.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: 7800 block of Heritage Dr. 12/25/15, 10:03 p.m. A 31-year-old Annandale man was walking home from a local store when he was approached by five men. Two of the men threatened him with a chain and a knife and demanded money, while the others surrounded him. The victim refused to hand over any money and recorded the incident on his cell phone. The suspects fled and there were no injuries. All suspects were described as Hispanic, in their 20s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet tall.
BURGLARY WITH APPREHENSION: 7700 block of Suraci Ct. 12/25/15, 10:30 p.m. A 27-year-old woman returned home with her children and found muddy boots inside that did not belong. She checked the home and discovered an unknown male sleeping in one of the bedrooms. The victim retreated and called police. A K9 team along with additional officers arrived and confronted the suspect who was uncooperative. The suspect received a bite from the police K9 and was then cooperative. The 17-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to a local hospital where he was treated for the bite and released to his father. A juvenile petition will be sought.
