Officers from the McLean District Station conducted a grant-funded DWI enforcement patrol from 8 p.m. on February 18 until 4 a.m. on February 19. Seventeen traffic summons were issued.

NARCOTICS VIOLATION / DISARM LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER: 2700 block of Arlington Drive. 02/18/16, 5:37 p.m. Two officers responded to investigate a call for a man, later identified as Richard Leonard Brooks, III, 31, of Alexandria, smoking marijuana in the apartment fitness center. The officers found Brooks sitting inside the room and approached him. He allegedly refused to obey commands and actively resisted the officers’ attempt to detain him. Brooks disarmed one officer’s conductive energy weapon (CEW) but was quickly subdued. Brooks was arrested and charged with drunk in public, resisting arrest, wear mask to conceal identity, and disarming a law enforcement officer. Additional charges pending further investigation.
