There will be a sobriety checkpoint this Saturday in the Mount Vernon District from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Drive safe and stay sober.

WEAPON BRANDISHING: 2800 block of Boswell Avenue. 5/3/16, 2:44 p.m.The driver of a Fairfax County school bus was notified by a student that there was a knife on the bus. The driver responded calmly and immediately contacted the proper authorities. Police and FCPS officials arrived on the scene and were able to recover the weapon and remove the involved students from the bus without incident. The students on the bus remained calm and were respectful and compliant throughout the process. No students were injured. The incident is still under investigation.

The Street Smart Pedestrian Safety Campaign conducted near Wiehle Avenue and the Reston Metro Station resulted in 30 summonses issued.
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 2300 Block of Soapstone Drive, 05/03/16, 2:34 a.m. Three men entered a convenience store and displayed a gun to an employee. The suspects took cash and property and fled. There were no injuries to the victim. One suspect was described as Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing a light blue jacket and dark pants. The second suspect was described as black, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a gray jacket and light-colored pants and the third suspect was unknown race, wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, and had his face covered.

BURGLARY: 8500 block of Groveland Drive, 05/03/16, 6:48 p.m. A resident reported that someone entered their home and took property.
BURGLARY: 12000 block of Saffron Drive, 05/03/16, 1:50 a.m. A resident reported someone entered their home through an unsecure door and took property.
