Speeding in residential neighborhoods is a common problem throughout Fairfax County and the sustained effort to reduce neighborhood speeding began in 2014 with the, “Slow Down: You Live Here, We Live Here” campaign. Working in conjunction with this program, the Sully District Station has partnered with American Disposal Services and the Virginia Run Community to try a new approach to bringing greater awareness to the problem of speeding in neighborhoods.
On Monday, May 23, officers from the Sully District Station, employees of American Disposal Services and residents of the Virginia Run Community will present “Trash Talks,” an initiative intended to increase speeding awareness for the safety of our children. Volunteers will be affixing “Keep Kids Alive Drive 25” stickers to residential trash bins to help educate and remind drivers to slow down for our kids’ safety. Twice a week, the stickers will be rolled out to the curb and provide a regular reminder to all passing drivers to slow down.

Homicide Investigation in the Alexandria Area of Fairfax County
This morning, around 2:20 a.m., officers from the Mount Vernon Police District were called to the 6000 block of Richmond Highway for a report of a shot person. Officers located an unresponsive adult male in the parking lot and he was pronounced deceased by paramedics from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
Major Crimes Division detectives are actively investigating this incident as a homicide. The deceased man has been identified as Tarreece John Sampson, 24, of Alexandria. Mr. Sampson is an employee of the Fairfax County Public Schools. Next of kin has been notified.
They are asking for the public’s assistance in seeking any information in regards to this case. COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 7700 block of Richmond Highway, 05/19/16, 9:12 p.m. A man entered a business, displayed a knife to two employees, and demanded money. The victims complied and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victims did not require medical attention. The suspect was described as white, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slim build, dark brown mid-length hair with a mustached face, wearing a gray sweatshirt with a hood and dark pants. This suspect matches the description of a suspect in other similar incidents.
ROBBERY: 6200 block of Richmond Highway, 05/19/19, 7:46 a.m. The victim reported that a man approached him in the bathroom of a business and began assaulting him. The suspect took cash from the victim and fled. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspect was described as black, 40 to 45 years old, approximately 6 feet tall and 220 pounds, wearing a purple shirt and jeans.

Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Falls Church
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 7400 block of Little River Turnpike, 05/19/16, 7:41 p.m. A man entered a business, displayed a knife and demanded money from an employee. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspect was described as white, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slim build, dark brown mid-length hair, and possibly wearing jeans. This suspect matches the description of a suspect in other similar incidents.

The victim did not comply and the suspect fled with property. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspect was described as white or middle-eastern, 20 to 30 years old, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, and wearing a dark sweatshirt with a hood.
