7/10/16 – Marine Patrol conducted a Boating Under the Influence (BUI) checkpoint. 26 boats were screened resulting in 2 summonses and 11 warnings issued.

LARCENY BY FALSE PRETENSE/USING FAKE ID/ARREST: 8000 block of Leesburg Pike, 07/08/16, 6:09 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a fraud incident at a business. An investigation determined that Emmanuel Nde was using fake identification cards to receive cash. Officers located Mr. Nde leaving the business. He was arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with larceny by false pretenses and possession of fictitious ID cards.

ROBBERY/MALICIOUS WOUNDING/ARREST: 4300 block of Greenberry Lane, 07/10/16, 12:08 a.m. A 37-year-old man was walking home with some friends when two men approached him and asked for money. The victim refused and the men assaulted him. Police responded and located the suspects fleeing the area. Randy Castro Zavaleta, 19, of Springfield and Richard Rangel, 20, of Springfield were arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with malicious wounding and robbery.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION: 4300 block of Ivymount Court, 07/10/16, 2:23 a.m. Officers responded to a report of an attempted abduction. An investigation determined a 29-year-old woman was walking home and observed a man sitting in his vehicle. The man spoke to her but she continued walking. The suspect exited his vehicle and allegedly attempted to lead the victim to his car. She was able to get away and notified the police. Officers did not locate the suspect. He was described as Indian or Middle- Eastern, late 40s, heavyset, and was wearing a light blue shirt.
