Police Explorer (Youth) Program: Seeking New Recruits, Registration Only Happens Once a Year: Three informational meetings to be held at 7 p.m. on the following upcoming Mondays:

Fairfax County Crime Solvers Case of the Month: Series of Shots Fired Into Vehicles and Dwelling
Mount Vernon District Station is hosting a Neighborhood Watch Training tomorrow, September 20, at 7:00 p.m. Come learn safety tips, how to coordinate a watch program in your neighborhood, and more. This training session can hold up to 40 people and is for Mount Vernon residents. Please RSVP to Officer Urps at 703-360-8928.
Virginia Department of Transportation will be milling and paving on Guinea Road, reducing it to one lane, alternating between Braddock Road and Route 236 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the next few weeks. Stay alert and follow officers’ direction. They will be in the work zone for safety.

Several officers in the Mount Vernon District participated in directed DWI patrol on Saturday, September 17, from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. 25 cars were screened, with five summonses issued, and one DWI arrest. Thanks for driving safely.

ROBBERY/ARREST: Central Park/Longworth Square, 09/18/16, 2:12 a.m. Police responded to a report of an alleged robbery. The victim was walking along the street when he saw a man lying in the road. The victim went to check on the man who demanded cash and threatened to stab him. Michail Thomas Hill, 26, of Philadelphia, was arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with robbery. The victim did not require medical attention.

ROBBERY: Tysons Corner Metro, 09/18/16, 7:20 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a robbery. The victim, a 24-year-old man, was waiting on the metro platform, when a group of men approached him and began to taunt him. One man allegedly assaulted the victim and took property. The suspect fled on the metro, along with the other men. The suspect was described as black, approximately early 20s, wearing a white Nautica shirt. The victim did not require medical attention.

Animal Protection Police Seize 80+ Cats from Home in the Falls Church Area
BURGLARY/ARREST: 4100 block of Wadsworth Court, 09/17/16, 5:33 p.m. Police arrested a man after he allegedly broke into a home. An investigation determined the victims had left their home earlier in the day. Upon returning, they found items moved around and property missing. Officers located a man in a stairwell that was in possession of the stolen items. Clemente Velasco, 39, of Annandale, was arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with burglary.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY/FORGERY/FALSE IDENTIFICATION/ARREST: 6500 block of Columbia Pike, 09/18/16, 2:32 a.m. Fairfax County school security responded to a building alarm. They located a man inside the building who was charging a cell phone. The man initially gave false information about his identity, but an investigation determined he was Hector Pineda Diaz, 26, of no fixed address. The suspect was arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with unlawful entry, forgery, and providing false identification.

Animal Protection Police Seize 80+ Cats from Home in the Falls Church Area
ANIMAL MALTREATMENT: 4700 West Ox, 9/18/2016, 3:30 p.m. Animal Protection Police responded to dog being left in a car. With the assistance of the Fairfax County Fire Department, the vehicle was opened and the dog was rescued and transported to the Animal Shelter. The owner of the dog, Jinzhong Liu, 53, of Herndon, was issued a summons for an unfit owner.
