Police to Encourage Schoolchildren They Can Be Peacemakers at CHALK4PEACE Event
Mount Vernon Police District – This Friday, police officers from the Mount Vernon station will participate in Groveton Elementary School’s eighth annual CHALK4PEACE event. This global campaign provides schoolchildren an opportunity to artistically express what peace means to them and the importance of their role in building peace within their community and around the world.
Members of the media are invited to attend. Officers will talk to students about creating a peaceful community right here at home and their power to be peacemakers throughout life. First Lieutenant Jerry Watts, Assistant Commander of the Mount Vernon District Station, and MPO Robert Urps, Crime Prevention Officer, will be available for interview.
