Fall Driving: Be Alert for Deer
Motor Carrier Safety Officers conducted commercial vehicle inspections today near Springfield Town Center. They inspected 22 vehicles, found 73 violations, with 24 being out of service violations. 10 summonses were issued and 12 vehicles were placed out of service. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we strive to keep Fairfax County roads safe!

GRAND LARCENY/ARREST: 5700 block of Kingstowne Blvd (Kohl’s), 10/5/16, 2:36 p.m. Police were called for a report of two women allegedly concealing merchandise. Further investigation revealed that the suspects had retrieved various items, taken them into a dressing room, and placed them in bags. Loss prevention officers approached the suspects and notified police. Ana Esperanza Zevallos, 19, of Springfield was released on a petit larceny summons. Palmer Alexander Stewart, 20, of Springfield was arrested, transported to the adult detention center and charged with grand larceny and possession of burglarious tools.

SHOOTING INTO AN OCCUPPIED DWELLING: 7900 Timarand Ct, 10/6/2016, 12:01 a.m. Officers responded to the area for a suspicious noise or what appeared to be the sound of gun shots. Further investigation revealed several suspected bullet holes in the house. No one was injured. The investigation is in the preliminary stages and continues to determine whether this incident is connected to similar cases. ROBBERY: 6400 Edsall Rd, 10/6/2016, 12:58 a.m. Police responded to a report of an alleged robbery of a delivery driver. The delivery company was contacted by a man who ordered food. Once the delivery driver arrived in the area he was flagged down by a man who then displayed a handgun, took food, cash and fled the area. The suspect was described as black, 20-30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet, medium length dreads, black baseball cap, black t-shirt and black pants.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
PURSUIT WITH ARREST: Lorton Rd and Workhouse Road, 10/5/2016, 10:43 a.m. An officer attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation and the car sped off. It was located abandoned on Barrow Furnace Lane. The suspect was located in Prince William County a short time later and identified as Zulaikha Mughal, 23, of Woodbridge, who was charged with felony speed to elude.
