GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Traffic: Closures will occur along the ramp from northbound I-95 to Route 1 (Exit 161) and the ramp from southbound I-95 to Backlick Road (Exit 167) between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly Tuesday, October 18 through Thursday, October 20 for asphalt patching, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Traffic flow will be maintained on the ramps during the patching work; however, motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes.

Tomorrow, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will be proclaiming October 2016 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Come by the Fairfax County Government Center at 9:30 a.m. to support this great cause, give Moose, our cancer-surviving Bomb dog, some love and sign our pink cruiser!

Checkpoint Results: Franconia-Springfield Parkway at Bonnie Mill Lane, 10/15/16. Officers in the Franconia District conducted a sobriety checkpoint searching for drunk drivers. 840 cars were screened with three arrests for DWI.
On Thursday, October 13, officers from the Fair Oaks District Station and members of the Traffic Division conducted alcohol compliance checks on several businesses. Eight stores were checked and all were in 100% compliance.

VEHICLE TAMPERING/RECKLESS DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: 1700 block of Larkmeade Drive, 10/16/16 around 1:48 a.m. An investigation determined a 2012 Acura MDX was parked in the driveway. The front of it sustained apparent gunshot damage. No one was injured. The investigation continues.

Police Investigate a Shooting in the Alexandria Area
Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Fairfax Area
GRAND LARCENY/POSSESSION OF BURGLARIOUS TOOLS/ARREST: 5700 block of Leesburg Pike, 10/16/16, about 12:30 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an apparent grand larceny. A store employee observed a man concealing merchandise in his backpack. While the patrol officer waited outside the business to speak to the suspect, he was observed concealing additional merchandise. The officer detained the suspect and located the stolen property. Alec Stewart, 21, of Alexandria, was arrested, transported to the adult detention center and charged with grand larceny and possession of burglarious tools.

GRAND LARCENY/POSSESSION OF BURGLARIOUS TOOLS/ARREST: 5800 block of Kingstowne Blvd, 10/15/16, about 2:25 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a possible larceny at a Wal-Mart. A store employee recognized a teenaged boy as someone who had recently been detained for stealing merchandise. When officers arrived, they observed the suspect behaving in a nervous manner and detained him. Further investigation revealed that he was in possession of stolen property and burglarious tools. A 13-year-old boy was released to his guardian pending further charges.
