GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Traffic: Closures will occur along the ramp from northbound I-95 to Route 1 (Exit 161) and the ramp from southbound I-95 to Backlick Road (Exit 167) between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly Tuesday, October 18 through Thursday, October 20 for asphalt patching, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Traffic flow will be maintained on the ramps during the patching work; however, motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes.

Fall Driving: Be Alert for Deer

FRAUD/SKIMMING DEVICE: 6300 block of Richmond Highway. 101816, 4:47 p.m. An employee of Walmart noticed a credit card skimming device attached to a cash register. He immediately notified Loss Prevention who in-turn called police. The device was taken as evidence and the investigation continues. LARCENIES:

Multi-Vehicle Crash Results in Fatality

TRAFFIC PURSUIT/K9 BITE: Wiehle Avenue/North Shore Drive. 10/18/16, 10:48 p.m. An officer was sitting at a red light behind a green Honda Civic. The Honda turned right on red in violation of a posted highway sign. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the Honda fled and a brief pursuit ensued. The driver of the Honda lost control and crashed near Associated Drive; he then fled on foot. Fairfax 1 and a K9 team responded to assist in the search for the fleeing suspect. K9 located the suspect a short distance away. The suspect was combative, refused to comply with the officer’s commands, and was bitten by the K9 dog. The suspect, 20-year-old Devante Harris of Reston, was transported to Reston Hospital Center for treatment. Upon his release, he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with felony speed to elude, reckless driving, disregarding a highway sign, driving on a suspended license and improper registration.

STOLEN VEHICLES:
1900 block of Reston Metro Plaza, 2006 Honda Civic
GRAND LARCENY/FOOT PURSUIT: 6500 Springfield Mall. 10/18/16, 5:31 p.m. An officer assigned to patrol Springfield Mall, noticed two people in the Victoria’s Secret store pick up clothes and attempt to leave without paying. As he approached them, they fled on foot. Additional officers responded and the suspects were apprehended a short distance away. The clothes from Victoria’s Secret were recovered, along with merchandise apparently stolen from several other stores in the mall. Reginald Simmons, 18 and Ikea Davis, 21, both of Southeast Washington, D.C. were charged with grand larceny and four counts of petit larceny. Simmons was also charged with resisting arrest.
