BURGLARY: 11200 South Shore Road, 11/21/16, around 6 p.m. The homeowner reported that while away, someone forced entry in his home through a basement window and took two firearms. There did not appear to be anything else missing and the case is being investigated.

ANIMAL MALTREATMENT: 6300 block of Lincolnia Road, 11/21/16, around 9:50 a.m. Animal Protection Police responded to a complaint for a dog running loose. The officer found a dog hiding under a car with the leash attached and another dog tethered outside. The officer also observed several piles of feces and that the loose dog was dirty and had matted hair. Officers made contact with the owner of the dogs, Ixel Roberto Morales, 27, of Alexandria, and he was issued a summons for 41.1-2-20, cruelty to animals.
