POSSESSION OF STOLEN HANDGUNS/POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA/ARREST: Sacramento Drive/Bedford Terrace, 1/1/17, around 12:30 a.m. A man was seen attempting to break into a car. When officers arrived they identified the man as being an authorized driver of the car. Officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana and saw a handgun in plain view inside the car. A search was conducted and three handguns were recovered along with drugs. Alhaji Gibril Allie, 21, of Woodbridge was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with 3 counts of concealed weapon, receiving and/or possessing a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana.

ARMED ROBBERY: 6000 block of Knollwood Drive. 1/1/17, 11:34 p.m. A man was walking from his car to his apartment when he was approached by a man who threatened him with a knife and took an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as black, with a slim build, wearing a dark colored, hooded sweatshirt.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
SUSPICIOUS NOISE: 8000 block of Galla Knoll Circle. 12/30/16, 10 p.m. A homeowner in the area of Lake Mercer heard what he thought to be the sound of gunshots. He went outside to investigate and saw three black men get into a dark colored sedan and drive away. Officers checked the area and found several shell casings on the ground. There was no further suspect or vehicle description.

ANIMAL PROTECTION POLICE (APP)
ANIMAL CRUELTY/DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/ARREST: 2200 block of CastleRock Square, 12/30/16, around 12:40 p.m. Animal Protection Police responded to assist officers on a domestic violence incident in the Reston area. The suspect had thrown the victim’s pet guinea pig off the balcony and left the area. APP took the animal for an evaluation and determined it was deceased. The following day, Theron Boone, 19, of Reston was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center, and charged with animal cruelty, domestic violence, destruction of property, and preventing someone from calling 911.

Officers from Mason District Station were out on patrol looking for drunk drivers on Friday, December 30, to keep your streets safe. There were 3 DWI arrests, 7 summonses and 30 warnings issued.
