FAILURE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE CARE OF A DOG/TETHERING VIOLATION/ARREST: 5300 block of Willow Valley Road, 3/24/17 around 9:45 a.m. A 37-year-old woman was charged after an investigation determined she tethered her 8-month-old Husky to a tree in the backyard without proper shelter for several hours. Rasha Shaker, of Clifton, was issued summonses for failing to provide adequate care of a dog and violation of the tethering law. Animal Protection Police officers provided guidance to the owner on properly caring for and raising her pet.

ROBBERY: 7100 block of Richmond Highway, 3/24/17 around 1:50 a.m. Two men robbed a 20-year-old man. The victim was walking outside when the suspects approached from behind and assaulted him. They stole money and fled. One suspect was described as white or Hispanic, 30 to 35 years old, about 6 feet tall and wore a light brown jacket with a gray hoodie. The other was described as black, 40 to 45 years old, about 6 feet tall, with a stocky build, and wore a black hoodie and baggy blue jeans. The victim declined medical attention.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA/DWI/ASSAULT ON A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER/OPEN CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL/DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT/ARREST: Lee Highway/Meadow View Road, 3/24/17 around 8:16 p.m. An officer stopped a car for a traffic violation. An investigation determined the driver was apparently intoxicated. As officers attempted to take him into custody, he resisted and attempted to punch one officer multiple times. They were able to gain control of the suspect. Edward McCue, 53, of Annandale, was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, DWI, possession of marijuana, open container of alcohol and defective equipment. The officer was also treated for minor injuries. No mug shot is available.

BURGLARY/ARREST: 6100 block of Greenwood Drive, 3/24/17 around 10:30 p.m. Two men were charged with burglarizing an apartment. Officers were called for a report of a fight and an investigation determined the two suspects broke into an apartment building in order to break into an apartment where they were threatening someone inside. After forcing entry into the apartment, the suspects starting throwing things around and causing damage. The suspects fled as officers arrived, but were apprehended nearby. Marlon Martinez, 22, of Falls Church, and George Hernandez, 22, of no fixed address, were taken to the Adult Detention Center and each charged with two counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, three counts of assault and two counts of destruction of property. No one inside the apartment required medical attention.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY/ARREST: 6000 block of Argyle Drive, 3/26/17, around 5:10 p.m. Three teenaged boys, 14, 15 and 16, were taken into custody after unlawfully entering the basement area of an apartment building. Petitions will be sought for unlawful entry and possession of marijuana. Two suspects were released to their parents; the other was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center for an outstanding detention order.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: 6000 block of Burke Centre Parkway (District Camera), 3/26/17 around 11:40 p.m. An investigation determined someone attempted to gain entry into the business from the roof. The suspect did not get into the business. No suspect description is available.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY/ARREST: 4500 block of Commons Drive, 3/25/17 around 11:10 a.m. A man was arrested after unlawfully entering a vacant apartment. An employee reported two men were inside, but the suspects left prior to officers’ arrival. One suspect was located and arrested nearby. Hector Morales, 50, of Annandale, was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with unlawful entry and destruction of property. The other suspect was not located; officers were able to identify him and obtains warrants.
