WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
ANIMAL CRUELTY/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY/ARREST: 6300 block of Capella Avenue, 5/17/17 around 12:31 p.m. Officers responded to a home for a report of a man bitten by a dog. An investigation determined the man provoked and assaulted a family of dogs. A female dog suffered serious injuries, and the male dog was later found uninjured, roaming the neighborhood. Three puppies were located nearby; two deceased, one injured. The mother dog and injured puppy were taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment. Kevin Land, 46, of Burke, was arrested and taken to the Adult Detention Center. He was charged with destruction of property, drunk in public, and two counts of animal cruelty. Additional charges are pending.
