BURGLARY: 7100 block of Mint Place, 7/14/17 around 11 a.m. Someone broke into a home and took items.
ROBBERY: 3200 block of Pelican Place, 7/14/17 around 3:20 p.m. Two men approached a woman, displayed a knife and pushed her to the ground. They took cash and her cell phone. The men were described as black, between 20 and 35 years old, about 6 feet tall and 130 to 160 pounds.

COMMERICAL ROBBERY: 9800 block of Gunston Road (7-Eleven), 7/16/17 around 3:30 a.m. A man entered the store, displayed a weapon and demanded money. He took off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured. The suspect was described as black, in his 30s, about 6 feet tall and approximately 150 pounds. Investigation ongoing.
LARCENY FROM VEHICLE/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY/ARREST: 7000 block of Skyles Way, 7/17/17 between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. Residents saw a man breaking into cars with an object. The man took off, but neighbors were able to give a description and tag information. A K9 officer searching the area found the suspect breaking into another car near China Grove Court and Flat Rock Court. Keon Lewis, 24, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with destruction of property, possession of burglarious tools and larceny.

A sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in the Mount Vernon District Friday, July 21 from 11 p.m. until 2 a.m. Saturday.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Motor Carrier Safety officers conducted an inspection on Saturday, July 15. Fifteen trucks were stopped for inspection, 36 violations were cited and 12 trucks were taken out of service.
