CONCEALED WEAPON AND NARCOTICS VIOLATION: 8500 block of Richmond Highway, 9/6/17 around 4:45 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a white Toyota sedan. Once stopped, the officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the car. Odell Lewis, 45, of Woodbridge exited the vehicle and began to struggle with officers. Lewis was put in handcuffs and officers searched the vehicle where illegal drugs and a stolen pistol were found. Lewis was taken to the Mount Vernon Station where he was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice, and possession of stolen property.

NARCOTICS AND WEAPON VIOLATION: 4900 block of Oasis Drive, 9/7/17 around 1:10 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted on a Volkswagen sedan, and an odor of marijuana was detected by the officer as he was speaking to the occupants. Both the driver and passenger were taken out of the vehicle. When the officer went to search the passenger, 22-year-old Dewey Carpenter of Miami, Florida, he attempted to flee from the officer. Carpenter was taken into custody and a search turned-up narcotics from Carpenter’s pants. When officers went to put Carpenter in the back of the police car, he then head-butted the officer. A search of the vehicle recovered a pistol, and over $10,000 in cash. Carpenter was taken to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a firearm with a narcotic, attempt to flee from a law enforcement officer, assault on a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice.
