McLean District – A man has died after being hit by a car this past weekend. Our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to the 5900 block of Chesterbrook Road on Saturday, September 30, shortly after noon. The investigation reveals Thomas Porterfield Jr., 73, of McLean, was jogging eastbound on Chesterbrook Rd when he attempted to cross to the other side of the street. Porterfield was struck by a BMW traveling in the same direction. He was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries and was pronounced dead around 10:00 p.m. The driver, an 82 year-old woman, remained on scene. Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in this crash. No charges have been filed against the driver.
