Fair Oaks District – The man who caused widespread traffic delays on Sully Road near Dulles International Airport yesterday has been identified as Jose Gonzalez Flores, 32, of Sterling. Our investigation reveals Gonzalez Flores was involved in a crash with two different cars while traveling southbound on Sully Road near Frying Pan Road.  After the crash, Gonzalez Flores then assaulted one of the drivers involved in the crash before returning to his pick-up truck and throwing items onto Sully Road.  He then stripped off his clothing and began running into traffic.  While in traffic, Gonzalez Flores jumped on a passing truck and broke its window.  The truck safely stopped, and Gonzalez Flores ran from the scene.  Officers from multiple jurisdictions responded to the area to help search for him.  Officers found him a short time later in a drainage ditch on Dulles Airport property.

Gonzalez Flores was admitted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Officers obtained warrants for two counts of felony hit and run, throwing an object at a moving vehicle, destruction of property, assault and battery, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, and possession of marijuana.  It is unknown at this time if Gonzalez Flores experienced a medical emergency after the accident or was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  The outstanding warrants would not be served until he is released from the hospital.
