DUI/ARREST: 2400 block of Gallows Road, this morning around 1 a.m. A vehicle crashed into a pole. The driver, Sean Moynihan, 22, was charged with DUI. The road was shut down due to the pole catching fire and live wires in the roadway. TRAIN CRASH: 9900 block of Richmond Highway, 3/12/18, 7:15 a.m. Police were called to the area for a report of a car stuck on the railroad tracks. It was found that a person had become confused when they were at the Amtrak Auto Train station and drove their car onto the tracks. The driver travelled approximately one mile on the tracks when a passing train sideswiped his vehicle. The vehicle had minor damage. The driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

SHOOTING / MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 4100 block of Brookgreen Drive, 3/13/18, 7:35 a.m. Khalid Zamani, 31, of Woodbridge, was charged with malicious wounding, abduction, robbery, and use of a firearm. An argument occurred between Zamani and the victim, which escalated to the point where Zamani used a gun and shot him in the lower body. Zamani drove away from the location and was later apprehended in Mclean. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are continuing to investigate this case.
