TRAFFIC PURSUIT/DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED: Route 28 at I-66, 4/12/18, 3:40 a.m. An officer initiated a traffic stop but the car sped away and a chase began. The driver failed to keep the car on the road as it left Route 28 towards Westfields Boulevard and crashed into a storm water retention pond. The car came to rest on the embankment and the driver ran away. After a short foot pursuit, officers caught Karla Santos, 27, of Woodbridge, and charged her with driving while intoxicated – second offense within 5 years, disregarding police signal to stop, driving on a revoked license – second offense, and refusal of blood or breath test.

BURGLARY/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: 7167 Lee Highway (Milan Latino Bakery), between 4/11/18 at 7:45 p.m. and 4/12/18 at 6:30 a.m. Someone broke into the business, damaged property and stole cash and merchandise.
CRITICAL INJURY CRASH: 8600 block of Georgetown Pike, 4/12/18, 2:40 p.m. A man was driving westbound on Georgetown Pike when he ran off the right side of the roadway and lost control of the car. The car came back onto the road and crossed over all lanes of traffic to the opposite side of the road, rolled onto the shoulder, ejecting the driver. The car came to rest in a yard. The patient was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
