Fatal Crash in Reston
Reston Police District – Crash reconstruction detectives are working to determine if alcohol was a factor in a crash that resulted in the death of a 63-year-old Reston man. Shortly after 9 last night, officers responded to Baron Cameron Avenue and Fountain Drive for a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a car. Detectives determined the pedestrian was crossing Baron Cameron Avenue mid-block, prior to Fountain Drive. The Camry was in the right lane when the driver braked and tried to swerve but was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and died as a result of his injuries. The driver remained at the scene, called for help, and cooperated with the investigation. No one else was injured. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors for the driver, however detectives are still working to determine if alcohol was a factor for the pedestrian. The name of the deceased is being withheld until family is notified.
