Gas Station Clerk Murdered in Herndon; Suspect in Custody

A suspect is in custody this morning and charged with the murder of a gas station clerk in Herndon. Just after 1:15 this morning, patrol officers were called to the Sunoco in the 13300 block of Franklin Farm Road for a robbery. Officers arrived within three minutes and observed a person matching the description of the suspect. They arrested Mohamed A. Abdullahi in the shopping center parking lot. Abdullahi is 19 and lives in Herndon.

The victim, Resham Bajgain, 40, of Chantilly, suffered blunt force trauma to the upper body. An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow morning.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone with information, to include the driver of a Pontiac GTO who was near the Sunoco around the time of the murder. Abdullahi is being held at the Adult Detention Center without bond.
