Detectives Investigating Early Morning Shooting in Centreville

Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are continuing their investigation into a shooting in the 6300 block of Fairfax National Way.  At about 5:00 this morning, we received a call for an attempted burglary after a homeowner saw a man in his backyard.  After confronting the man near the front porch, the homeowner fired several shots, hitting the man twice.  The man has non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at a nearby hospital. Detectives are collecting evidence and conducting interviews. At this point, it does not appear the homeowner and the man knew each other. Once the investigation is complete, detectives will present their findings to the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney to determine if charges will be placed.
