ROBBERY: 6600 block of Richmond Hwy., 8/20/18, 5:00 p.m. A woman reported that a man grabbed her and took her wallet out of her hand, while she was getting into her car. She described him as black and approximately 30-40 years old. Witnesses saw him run to a black SUV and drive away from the area. The woman had minor injuries from the encounter.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

FOOT PURSUIT: 1961 Chain Bridge Rd. (Bloomingdales), 8/20/18, 3:45 p.m. Officers saw four men stealing from a business. As officers stopped the group, Demarco Davis, 19, of Maryland, ran away. Officers caught up to Davis and took him into custody. Mr. Davis was arrested and charged with multiple larcenies.  Jared Bankett, 19, of Maryland was also charged with multiple larcenies.DemarcoDavis.jpg

BURGLARY ATTEMPT: 3300 block of Woodburn Rd., 8/18/2018, 2:45 p.m. An employee reported that a man entered the business by prying open the front door. The employee saw the man rummaging around on her camera system, but he stopped when an alarm sounded. After the alarm, he ran away from the business. Nothing was taken, but a door was damaged.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

BICYCLE CRASH: Our detectives are asking for any witnesses after a crash involving a bicyclist on Ox Road at Peniwill Drive in Lorton yesterday around 6:20 p.m.  The 61-year-old bicyclist was airlifted to the hospital after colliding with a Ford pick-up truck.  Our Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating. ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT: 8600 block of Beech Hollow Ln., 8/20/18, 10:18 p.m. A tow truck driver reported someone assaulted him as he was repossessing a car. Our officer arrived and found the man sitting in his car, while it was on the lift, and refusing to get out. Our officer explained the appropriate civil procedures to the man and told him that he needed to get out of the car. After asking him several times to exit the vehicle, the man continued to refuse to get out, and told the officer he was not going to get out of the car. Our officer took control of the man’s arm and began to pull him out of the car. While doing so, the man bit our officer’s hand. Officers used OC spray as well as a baton to get the man out of the car and into our custody. Winston Gadd, 65, of Springfield, was arrested and charged with assault and battery, and assault on a law enforcement officer.

BURGLARY: 5240 Port Royal Rd. (UNIAIR), between 8/19/2018 7:45 p.m. and 6:45 a.m. the next day. An employee reported that someone went into the business by prying their front door open. Several items and cash were taken.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

WORK ZONE INJURY: A 66-year-old man remains in the hospital after a construction site accident at the intersection of Monument Drive and Monument Wall Way in Fairfax. The man was working on the road when a dump truck hit him. He was airlifted to the hospital.  The accident is under investigation by our Crash Reconstruction Unit.
