WEATHER MAY HAVE PLAYED ROLE IN FATAL CAR CRASH IN SPRINGFIELD

West Springfield Police District –Preliminarily, our Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives believe that rainy weather may have played a role in a fatal two-car crash in Springfield. Officers responded to Rolling Road near Hunter Village Drive around 2:30 p.m. yesterday after a Honda Civic lost control, crossed over the grassy median and crashed into a Kia Sportage. Both drivers were taken to the hospital. The driver of the Honda, Mina Fowler, 70, was pronounced deceased. The second driver, a 33-year-old Woodbridge man, had what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.  Detectives say speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
