UPDATE: Victim in Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Identified

The victim of the fatal single-car crash has been identified as 46-year-old Eddie Chen.

New York Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash

Franconia District Police District –  Our Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives are currently investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash. Officers responded to the 6200 block of Backlick Road near Commerce Street around 1:30 this morning for a report of a crash between a Mercedes Benz van and a parked Toyota Camry.  A preliminary investigation revealed a 46-year-old New York man was driving northbound on Backlick Road when he ran off the road.  The van entered a nearby parking lot, hitting the unoccupied Camry and then a light pole. The man was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. At this time, neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.  The driver’s name is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.
