SULLY DISTRICT STATION

MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 14124 Lee Highway (Sunoco Gas Station), 12/16/18, 1:40 a.m. (Sunoco Gas Station) Two cars were involved in an accident on Lee Highway. Both drivers pulled into the Sunoco parking lot and began to argue. Derek Burns Sr., 47, of Centreville, began punching the other man. Burns went to his car, pulled out a gun, and repeatedly hit the victim on the head with the gun. When the victim tried to get away, Burns grabbed a large stone and continued to strike the victim on his head. A gun was located by officers. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Burns was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and brandishing a weapon.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

CARJACKING: 5800 block of North Kings Highway, 12/16/2018, 1:01 a.m. A man was getting out of his car when he was approached by two men wearing masks. One of the men held a gun to the victim and made him get out of the car. The two men drove off in the dark blue 2008 Range Rover with Washington, D.C., license plate FV9498. Both were described as black men, about 6 feet tall, slim build, wearing black masks and all black clothing. The driver was not injured.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY/WARRANT SERVICE: 8400 block of Sky View Drive, 12/14/18/ 10:23 p.m. A resident reported that several people had entered a vacant home in the neighborhood. Officers found a woman and three men staying inside the home without permission. Stolen property was found in the home. Juwan Todd, 20, of Alexandria, was charged with unlawful entry and violation of conditions of release. Randy Blair, 37, of Alexandria, was charged with unlawful entry and fugitive from justice out of Maryland. Terell Jackson, 27, and Catherine Staats, 19, both of Alexandria, were charged with unlawful entry.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

BRANDISHING: 6053 Leesburg Pike (Rite Aid), 12/14/18, 11:00 a.m. The store clerk reported a man bought an item and then showed the clerk a handgun while the cash drawer was open. The clerk closed the drawer and stepped away so the man left the store. The suspect was described as black, 25 to 35 years old, approximately 5’8”, 150 to 180 pounds, wearing a black jacket and gray pants.  No one was injured and nothing was taken.

NARCOTICS VIOLATION: Heritage Drive/McWhorter Place, 12/16/2018, 8:28 p.m. An officer pulled over a car for illegal window tint. While talking to the driver, the officer smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. Officers found three small bags of marijuana, a digital scale, and case. The driver, Rashaud Jones, 29, of Washington, D.C., was arrested for possession with the intent to distribute.

ROBBERY: 4800 block of Manitoba Drive, 12/14/18, 11:30 p.m. The victim was approached by a man and a woman while on the sidewalk. The man pulled out a handgun and forced it against the victim’s neck, demanding money. The victim handed over money from their wallet and the man and woman ran towards the apartments nearby. The woman was described as Hispanic, about 18 years of age and the man was described as black, about 18 years of age.

GRAND LARCENY/POSSESSION OF BURGLARIOUS TOOLS: 5115 Leesburg Pike (Target), 12/15/18, 4:15 p.m. A loss prevention employee of the store recognized a man involved with multiple thefts in the past looking at electronics. As officers arrived to the store they identified the man, Demetrius Bradley, 28, of Annandale. Officers arrested Bradley based on the previous thefts. They found him to be in possession of a crowbar and a screwdriver which were used in the previous thefts. Bradley was charged with three counts of grand larceny, three counts of possession of a burglarious tool, and three counts of larceny with intent to sell stolen items.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY/PURSUIT: 6025 Burke Center Parkway (District Camera), 12/14/18, 4:37 a.m.  The business alarm was set off notifying us someone was breaking into a business. At the same time, we received a call from a concerned resident who witnessed the crime. As officers arrived, the suspects sped away from the store in two separate cars. The suspects refused to stop for the officers and separate pursuits of both cars took place. One of the cars eventually stopped and several suspects ran from the car. The following suspects were caught and charged: Dowon Smith, 35, of Louisville, KY, was charged with burglary, larceny with intent to sell, grand larceny, and possession of burglarious tools. Darnell King, 36, of Raleigh, NC, was charged with burglary, larceny with intent to sell, unauthorized use of automobile, and possession of burglarious tools. Ryan Yenawine, 21, no fixed address, was charged with burglary, larceny with intent to sell, grand larceny, and possession of burglarious tools. Deshawn Hamby, 34, of Louisville, KY, was charged with burglary, larceny with intent to sell, grand larceny, and unauthorized use of automobile. Officers lost sight of the second car which remains under investigation.

 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: 8600 block of Nanlee Drive, 12/15/18 between 4:20 p.m. and 10 p.m. Someone broke into the residence, and stole electronics, cash, and miscellaneous items.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

BURGLARY: 8600 block of Nanlee Drive, 12/15/18 between 4:20 p.m. and 10 p.m. Someone broke into the residence, and stole electronics, cash, and miscellaneous items.

BURGLARY: 11750 Fair Oaks Shopping Center (Hot Topic), 12/15/18, 8:15 a.m. As employees reported to work they observed a black man, wearing a dark jacket, and dark pants in the back of the store. The man exited the store when the employees saw him. The employees noticed cash registers pried open, and money missing from each.

BURGLARY: 11750 Fair Oaks Shopping Center (Cinnabon). 12/15/18, 11:00 a.m. An employee reported someone entered the business and took money.
