BURGLARY: 14000 block of Grainery Rd, 12/20/18, between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Someone entered an unlocked car in the driveway of a home and stole the garage door opener, which was used to open the garage. A safe was taken from the garage along with several personal items. The safe was later found in the neighborhood.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY: 7000 block of Republic Court, 12/20/18, 5:20. The victim returned home after being out of the country since October, and found two unknown men in her apartment. They ran out when she called 911. There was evidence they had been staying in the apartment for an extended amount of time. There were no signs of forced entry. The first suspect was a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 6’ tall, with a big beard and dark clothing. The second suspect was a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 5’6”, skinny with dreadlocks.

GRAND LARCENY/FOOT PURSUIT: 6500 Springfield Mall, 12/20/18, 4:18 p.m. Officers assigned to the mall saw a group of people setting off security sensors after entering and exiting stores. As officers approached, the group quickly ran away. Four of the five were immediately caught by the officers. The remaining man ran from the scene and was caught after a lengthy search. Stolen property was found on all five members of the group. Churmaine Williams, 18, of Dumfries, was cited for petit larceny. Ziyon Macon, 18, of Bristow, was charged with grand larceny, petit larceny, and obstruction of justice. A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with petit larceny. A second 17-year-old juvenile was charged with grand larceny, possession of THC oil, and three counts of petit larceny. The third 17-year-old juvenile was released to their parents.
