Fatal Crash in Chantilly

Sully Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal crash that occurred in Chantilly around 2:26 this morning. Officers responded to southbound Route 28 just after Westfields Boulevard for a crash involving two cars.  A 2015 BMW 323i was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Route 28 when it struck a 2005 Acura TL head on. The driver of the Acura, Eliseo Ruiz, 59, of Chantilly, was taken to a local hospital where he died. The driver of the BMW was also transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  Detectives are still investigating to determine if alcohol and speed are factors in the crash.
