STOLEN VEHICLE: 6300 block of Richmond Hwy., 03/21/19, 2:45 p.m. The victims were loading groceries into their car when a man asked if they needed help. As the victims put the shopping cart away, the suspect got into the victims’ car and drove away. He struck a pole, drove through the parking lot and hit an unoccupied car, which was pushed into another car. The suspect continued through the parking lot onto Richmond Highway. Officers responded and were unable to find the stolen car. The suspect is described as black man in his 30s, slim build, wearing a burgundy jacket, dark pants and a dark ball cap.

SHOOTING INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING/ASSAULT ON POLICE: 2000 block of George Washington Rd., 03/21/19, 6:21 a.m. Officers responded for a homeowner who heard gunshots and found a broken window. A bullet had gone through the window into the homeowner’s entertainment center. As officers were checking the area, they saw broken eggs on the outside wall of a nearby home. Officers spoke with a man inside that home, Varun Srivastav, 21, of Fairfax. Officers learned there was a handgun inside in Srivastav’s home. This agitated Srivastav who became combative and hit two officers. Srivastav was arrested but continued to assault officers while being escorted to the cruiser. Once he arrived at the Adult Detention Center, Srivastav assaulted two deputies. Srivastav was charged with four counts of assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest. Further charges are pending investigation.
