MEDIA ALERT: News Conference on Daycare Employee Arrested for Aggravated Sexual Battery against Children

West Springfield Police District – Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau Child Abuse Squad arrested Rolly Hammond, 38, of Burke, and charged him with three counts of aggravated sexual battery, one count of forcible sodomy and one count of indecent liberties by a custodian last night. Hammond is a daycare worker with the Department of Family Services School Age Child Care (SACC) program based at West Springfield Elementary School in Springfield. This afternoon, Colonel Edwin C. Roessler Jr. and our Major Crimes Bureau will update the community on the investigation.

Daycare Employee Arrested for Aggravated Sexual Battery Against Children; Detectives Seek Information on Other Possible Victims

West Springfield Police District – Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau Child Abuse Squad arrested Rolly Hammond, 38, of Burke, last night and charged him with three counts of aggravated sexual battery, one count of forcible sodomy and one count of indecent liberties by a custodian.

Yesterday we were contacted along with Child Protective Services after a child disclosed that they had been inappropriately touched by Hammond. This investigation led to an additional juvenile being identified as a victim who had been abused for several years by Hammond.

Hammond is a daycare worker with the Department of Family Services School Age Child Care (SACC) program based at West Springfield Elementary School in Springfield. Detectives would like to hear from anyone who is concerned their child may have had inappropriate contact with Hammond.
