DWI CRASH: Richmond Highway/Collard Street, 4/12/19, 10:48 p.m. A car was traveling northbound on Richmond Highway at Collard Street when it went off the road, struck a pole and flipped over. The driver, Jaysen Rodriguez, 24, of Alexandria, was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license. All lanes of Richmond Highway were shut down from 11:30 p.m. until 11:19 a.m. while crews repaired the pole.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: 1587 Spring Hill Road (Quality Inn), 4/12/19, 3:30 p.m. A man approached an employee in a room, displayed a gun and attempted to take the money she was counting. The employee called for help and after a brief struggle, the man left with nothing. The suspect is described as black, 6’2” to 6’ 5”, 180 to 200 pounds, wearing a red and white long sleeve shirt with a collar and a black backpack.

NARCOTICS VIOLATION/COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY: 3200 block of Patrick Henry Drive, 4/12/19, 3:17 p.m. Officers stopped a car for a traffic violation. A search of the car revealed marijuana, THC vape pens, scales, packaging material and counterfeit U.S. currency. The teenage driver was released and petitions were obtained for felony distribution of marijuana, felony distribution of hash oil and possession of counterfeit currency.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
STOLEN AUTO: 8330 Old Keene Mill Road (CVS), 4/12/19, 2:19 p.m. Officers saw a teenage boy running along Rolling Road and attempting to hide himself. He then got into a car that officers believed was stolen. Officers confronted him and confirmed the car was stolen out of Washington, D.C. He was arrested and charged with grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell, and forged license plates.
