GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT:
Last evening, officers from the Mt. Vernon District Station along with members of the Traffic Safety Services Unit conducted an undercover operation as part of an ongoing business compliance enforcement campaign. Police Cadets dressed in plain clothes attempted to purchase alcohol from ABC licensed stores, in violation of Virginia Criminal Code section 4.1-304. The cadets are instructed to go into stores and attempt to purchase alcohol without providing identification. If asked by an employee if they were 21, the cadets were told to provide their true age. If the illegal transaction took place, a plain clothes police officer watching the transaction would charge the employee. As a result of the operation, 21 stores were checked; one charge was placed.
