Man Electrocuted Working Near Live Power Line
Mason Police District – A 41-year-old man is dead after he was electrocuted while trimming trees yesterday evening in the 3400 block of Surrey Lane. Our officers and Fire and Rescue Department personnel responded to a residential neighborhood in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County around 8:14 p.m. after a report that a man may have been electrocuted while working near a power line. Due to the live power line, all units had to wait for Dominion Power to arrive and deactivate the line. Preliminarily, detectives believe Jacinto Gomez Diaz, of Culpeper, was trimming trees on this street in an elevated position when he made contact with the live power line. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:37 p.m.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy to confirm cause of death. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident, which is being investigated as accidental.
