Police Cruiser Involved in Pedestrian Crash
Reston Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate an early morning crash between a police cruiser and a pedestrian. A police supervisor from our Reston District Station was driving southbound on Reston Parkway approaching the intersection of Sunset Hills Road around 2 a.m. The officer had the green traffic signal and was continuing straight through the intersection when a 42-year-old woman walked into the roadway against the pedestrian crossing signal and was struck. The woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries and the officer was uninjured. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors for the officer. Alcohol may have been a factor for the pedestrian.
