Franconia Police District- A 39-year-old woman has died as a result of injuries from a crash that occurred around 3:43 p.m. on Feb. 28. Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit have preliminarily determined that Tahmina Akter, of Springfield, was crossing Backlick Road near Villa Park Road. The driver of a 2019 Audi S5 was traveling southbound on Backlick Road and struck Akter who was not in a crosswalk. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with detectives. Akter was taken to a hospital where she died two days later. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
