Woman Arrested After Barricade in Springfield
Franconia Police District: A District of Columbia woman is facing charges following a barricade yesterday evening in the 6200 block of Backlick Road in Springfield. Shortly after 6 p.m., an officer observed a woman driving a 2001 Honda Accord point a handgun at another motorist at Franconia Road and Commerce Street. The officer followed the woman and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, Rhonda Fox, 26, sped away resulting in a pursuit. Fox’s car became disabled and she refused commands from the officers to exit her car.
Patrol officers contained the scene while crisis negotiators and tactical officers responded. After two hours of negotiations, Fox was safely taken into custody. She was charged with Brandishing a Firearm, Eluding Police and Reckless Driving. A firearm was recovered from her car. She is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
