Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Mount Vernon

SULLY DISTRICT STATION

RECKLESS DISCHARGE: 14500 block of Panagra Place, 3/14/21, 9:29 p.m. A man was seen firing a handgun into the ground. Jose Ramirez, 30, of Chantilly was arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, firearm possession by persons prohibited and drunk in public.

ROBBERY: 4100 block of Chantilly Lace Court, 3/18/21, 7:10 p.m. While walking in the area, the victim reported he was approached by five men who assaulted him and took his money. The group of men left the area on foot. The victim was treated for a minor injury at the scene.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT: 6000 block of Richmond Highway, 3/18/21, 3:12 a.m. Officers responded for a fight and determined a man had damaged property. Officers attempted to arrest the man who threatened and fought with officers. Darren McEwan, 34, was arrested and charged with three counts of assault on law enforcement, attempt to disarm officer, destruction of property and disorderly conduct. During the arrest, Samantha Carothers, 28, of Alexandria, attempted to stop the arrest of McEwan by biting and assaulting officers. She was charged with four counts of assault on law enforcement, two counts of obstruction and possession of schedule I/II narcotic. One officer suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Another officer was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: 2266 Huntington Avenue (Mike’s Quick Mart), 3/18/21, 3:18 a.m. Someone forced entry into the business and took property.

MCLEAN DISTRICT STATION

ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT: 1800 block of Jeffersonian Drive, 3/18/21, 12:28 a.m. Officers were investigating a larceny when Jason Earley, 44, of Vienna, displayed a knife and threatened officers. Officers arrested Earley and charged him with two counts of assault on law enforcement, obstruction of justice and grand larceny.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 8133 Watson Street (Domino’s), 3/13/21, 5:47 p.m. A man entered the business, displayed a gun and took money before leaving in a car.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 3600 block of South 14th Street, 3/14/21, 9:40 p.m. Two men were involved in an argument when one of the men displayed a gun and fired it toward the other man. Officers from our Special Operations Division responded to the scene and learned the man left the area. Eric Haley, 36, of Alexandria, was located in a neighboring jurisdiction and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and assault.

WEAPONS BRANDISHING/STOLEN AUTO RECOVERY: 4100 block of Wadsworth Court, 3/16/21, 5:07 p.m. Two men were involved in an argument with the victim. One of the men assaulted the victim with a handgun, then both men walked away. Officers were looking for the men when they located a stolen Nissan Murano believed to be associated with the two men. The victim suffered a minor injury.

RECKLESS DISCHARGE: 2900 block of Patrick Henry Drive, 3/16/21, 10:37 p.m. Two victims were standing in front of a building when two men reportedly shot towards them. The men ran away, no injuries were reported. Officers located a cartridge casing at the scene.

RESTON DISTRICT STATION

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: 2260 Hunters Woods Plaza (Buffalo Wing Factory & Pub), 3/17/21, 3:50 a.m. Someone forced entry into the business and took property.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: 2254 Hunters Woods Plaza (Jersey Mike’s Subs), 3/17/21, 3:50 a.m. Someone forced entry into the business and took property.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: 2254 Hunters Woods Plaza (King Pollo), 3/17/21, 3:50 a.m. Someone forced entry into the business and took property.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: 2254 Hunters Woods Plaza (Ledo Pizza), 3/17/21, 3:50 a.m. Someone forced entry into the business and took property.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY WITH APPREHENSION: 11000 block of Isaac Newton Square, 3/18/21, 4:13 a.m. A man forced entry into a business and set off an alarm. Officers responded and arrested Lee Otis Hudson, 44, of Washington, DC, as he exited the building. Hudson was charged with burglary, possession of burglarious tools, and served with a warrant from another jurisdiction.  

FRANCONIA DISTRICT STATION

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 6500 Springfield Mall (Target), 3/12/21, 7:45 p.m. A man loaded a shopping cart with items and left the store when he was confronted by loss prevention officers. The man displayed a gun and left in a car.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

WEAPONS BRANDISHING/RECKLESS DISCHARGE: 12900 block of Katherine Hanley Court, 3/12/21, 12:28 p.m. A man was seen outside firing a gun near a woman. Both went back into the home and officers were unable to contact them. Our Special Operations Division responded and after several requests, the man and woman came out of the home unharmed. Lavend James, 33, of Maryland, was arrested and charged with brandishing, reckless discharge, possession of a firearm on certain property and domestic assault.
