Four Vehicles Stolen Overnight Near Rose Hill

Franconia Police District – Early Wednesday morning, four vehicles were stolen near South Van Dorn Street and Franconia Road. Officers responded after 5 a.m. Wednesday to the Rose Hill neighborhood, when a witness reported seeing approximately 5 men attempting to enter vehicles. The suspects left the area prior to the arrival of our officers.

As officers were canvassing, they determined four vehicles were stolen.

  • A 2018 Audi A3 from the 6000 block of Mayfair Lane
  • A 2019 BMW X5 from the 5800 block of Jane Way
  • A 2017 Toyota Rav4 from the 4500 block of Tipton Lane
  • A 2018 Ford Explorer from the 4600 block of Tipton Lane

The BMW and Ford were both recovered in Washington, D.C. Officers determined several other vehicles were also entered. All vehicles involved appeared to have been left unlocked. Detectives have recovered home surveillance of the suspects attempting to enter a locked vehicle.

Here are a few tips you can follow to help deter thieves and prevent auto theft:

  • Lock car doors at all times
  • Remove valuables from your car
  • Do not leave car keys, house keys or garage door openers inside your car
  • Never leave your car running unattended under any circumstance
  • If you have to leave something in your car, hide it from view
  • Park in a well-lit area
  • Lock doors to your home
  • Keep garage doors closed and interior doors locked
