FATAL CRASH IN SPRINGFIELD
West Springfield Police District – A man has died as a result of a crash in Springfield yesterday morning.
Officers responded at 11:30 a.m. yesterday to the intersection of Old Keene Mill Road and Huntsman Boulevard for a two-vehicle crash. The driver of a 2016 Dodge Journey was traveling eastbound Old Keene Mill Road. John Rowley Jr., 93, of Springfield was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry. Rowley attempted to turn left onto southbound Huntsman Boulevard from Old Keene Mill Road. Rowley turned in front of the Dodge resulting in the crash.
Rowley was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening at the time. Sadly, his condition deteriorated and was pronounced deceased at the hospital yesterday evening. Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit are continuing the investigation. Speed and alcohol are under investigation.

This is the 16th non-pedestrian related fatal crash in the County to date in 2022. Year to date, in 2021 there were 16 non-pedestrian related fatal crashes.
