Driver Charged in Nov. 8 Fatal Crash

West Springfield Police District – Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives have charged the 41-year-old driver in the Nov. 8 Fatal Crash.

Detectives determined Jessica Bonilla Alfaro, of Springfield was driving a 2016 Dodge Journey. Bonilla Alfaro was traveling eastbound Old Keene Mill Road. She entered the intersection at Huntsman Boulevard and struck John Rowley in a 2017 Toyota Camry. Detectives determined Bonilla Alfaro was travelling above the speed limit and in a reckless manner prior to the crash.

Today, detectives served Bonilla Alfaro with a magistrate summons for reckless driving and is scheduled to appear in court in February. No mugshot is available.

Fatal Crash in Springfield

West Springfield Police District – A man has died as a result of a crash in Springfield yesterday morning.

Officers responded at 11:30 a.m. yesterday to the intersection of Old Keene Mill Road and Huntsman Boulevard for a two-vehicle crash. The driver of a 2016 Dodge Journey was traveling eastbound Old Keene Mill Road. John Rowley Jr., 93, of Springfield was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry. Rowley attempted to turn left onto southbound Huntsman Boulevard from Old Keene Mill Road. Rowley turned in front of the Dodge resulting in the crash. 

Rowley was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening at the time. Sadly, his condition deteriorated and was pronounced deceased at the hospital yesterday evening. Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit are continuing the investigation. Speed and alcohol are under investigation.
