VSP and FCPD Officer-Involved Shooting in Prince William County

Update: VSP & FCPD Officer-Involved Shooting in Prince William County

Fairfax County Police Department – Virginia State Police (VSP) continue to investigate the April 5 officer-involved shooting of an abduction suspect that occurred in Prince William County.

It is FCPD’s policy to release body camera footage related to an officer-involved shooting within 30 days of the incident. This is provided that the release would not potentially compromise an ongoing criminal investigation. Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth has formally requested FCPD to delay the release pending the on-going investigation by VSP. This request will be honored.

FCPD is committed to providing transparency to our community in critical incidents. We will update the community when the body camera footage will be released.
