Early Morning Fatal Crash in Chantilly
Sully Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal vehicle crash on Lee Highway and Bull Run Post Office Road in Chantilly.
At 1:18 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash with one driver ejected. Preliminarily, detectives determined deputies from the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office pursued the driver of a 2011 Dodge Journey after he drove away from a DWI checkpoint. Ashton Robinson, 39, of Culpeper entered Fairfax County traveling eastbound on Lee Highway. Robinson attempted to pass a 2020 Toyota Camry but was unsuccessful. Robinson struck the Camry, left the roadway, then struck a guardrail. Robinson was ejected from the vehicle.
Robinson was declared deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Camry were uninjured. Preliminarily, speed and alcohol appear to be a factor. No Fairfax County officers were involved in the pursuit.
